Collection of minerals of the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore formation of M.P. Semenenko
Information
The institute was established in 1969 to study the composition and evolution of the lithosphere, the formation of mineral deposits and the synthesis of minerals. In 2006, the institute was named after Academician M.P. Semenenko, founder and first director of the institute. The institute is the only one in the NAS system and the leading scientific center in Ukraine for determining the age of rocks by isotopic methods and studying the isotopic composition of heavy radioactive elements.
The scientific interests of the institute are focused on the location of deposits of metals, radioactive elements and Precambrian formations in the Ukrainian Shield. The main emphasis of the institute's research is focused on the study of the material composition of geological formations with the help of isotopic and elemental analysis and revealing the regularities of the placement of minerals. The Institute's research contributes to the development of geological sciences and the use of Ukraine's natural resources.
