The focus is the theme of this year's forum: Maidan, war, freedom in the context of socio-political transformations in Ukraine and the world on November 20-21, 2023.
The purpose of the forum: to discuss with the participation of Ukrainian and foreign experts the results and impact of the Revolution of Dignity and the Russian-Ukrainian war on geopolitical, political and social transformations in Ukraine and the world, as well as to analyze the peculiarities of documenting the events of the Maidan and the war.
Thematic areas of the forum
Block 1. Contextualization of the struggle of Ukrainians for freedom in the 21st century
- The impact of Maidan and Russia's war with Ukraine on Europe: between security and democracy
- (Un)learned lessons of the Maidan and the national development strategy of Ukraine
- Ukraine after the war: progress towards Europe
- Maidan and the Russian-Ukrainian war through the lens of law: the danger of unpunished evil
Block 2. Reminiscences of the Maidan in documenting the Russian-Ukrainian war
- Methods of documenting traumatic events of the modern age
- Maidan and the Russian-Ukrainian war in the memories of eyewitnesses
- Reflection of the Maidan and the war: ego-documents, diaries, posters, works of art
- Documenting protests and armed conflicts through mass media
- Maidans and war in museum exhibitions: new approaches and narratives
Historians, political scientists, sociologists, philosophers, lawyers, museologists, cultural experts, specialists in communication activities and other socio-humanitarian disciplines who study protest movements in general and the Maidan phenomenon in particular in the context of the current full-scale phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war are invited to participate in the forum.
Participation in the forum is free.
Based on the materials of the forum, it is planned to prepare and publish a collection of scientific papers.
The forum will be held in a mixed format (online and offline at the Information and Exhibition Center of the Maidan Museum at 18/2 Maidan Nezalezhnosti 18/2, Kyiv).
