Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Lychakiv Cemetery"
The Lychakiv Cemetery is a majestic national necropolis founded in 1786. It is one of the largest and oldest cemeteries in Ukraine and the most famous in Lviv. Since its foundation, outstanding cultural figures, artists, scientists and politicians, as well as the administrative elite of Galicia and Lodomeria, have been buried in this cemetery.
Now the cemetery has also become a museum, consisting of 42 hectares of land, where more than 400 thousand people are buried. The Lychakiv cemetery became a place for an exhibition of wonderful examples of architecture and sculpture, created by outstanding masters such as Hartman Witwer, the Shimzeri brothers, Pavlo Evtel and others. This is an important place of memory for everyone who loves and remembers their ancestors and outstanding Ukrainians who contributed to the culture, science and history.
