Museum of the History of the Jews of Odesa "Migdal-Shorashim"

The Museum of the History of the Jews of Odesa "Migdal-Shorashim" was opened in November 2002, in particular, as a reaction to the lack of reflection of the history of the Jews of Odesa in the expositions of the state museums of the city. The institution is the only one of its kind in Ukraine and has been carrying out various museum activities for 5 years, having about 7,000 exhibits in its funds, of which more than 1,000 are presented in a permanent exhibition.

The museum plays a role in popularizing the history of Jews, cooperating with Jewish organizations, state museums, archives, universities of Odesa and Ukraine, as well as with specialists from other countries. Most of the exhibits in the museum are gifts given by cultural figures, representatives of Jewish organizations and ordinary Odessans, including those who currently live abroad, but retain their love for their native city.
