National Herbarium of Ukraine

The "National Herbarium of Ukraine" contains more than 2,060,000 storage units and is the second largest collection of funds among the herbariums of Eastern Europe. This herbarium took a well-deserved place in the international list of Index Herbariorum.

The herbarium collection spans the period from the 18th century to the present day and includes thirteen historical herbarium collections that belonged to world-renowned scientists of the 18th-20th centuries. In addition, here you can find more than 10,000 typical specimens of newly described taxa, both from Ukraine and from other countries. Based on the materials of the herbarium, a number of fundamental scientific works were written, scientific research and applied topics are conducted, numerous dissertations are created and extensive international cooperation is conducted. Nowadays, the National Herbarium of Ukraine actively cooperates with international organizations and coordinates herbarium work in Ukraine.
