Physics and Mechanics Institute of G.V. Karpenko of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is a research center founded in 1951. The institute consists of 16 scientific departments and two research laboratories, as well as self-supporting units.
The Institute actively cooperates with leading scientists of Lviv institutions, universities and departments, conducting joint scientific research. The main priority areas of research include the physical foundations of technical diagnostics and remote sensing, the mechanics of destruction and strength of materials, as well as the problems of hydrogen exposure and corrosion.
