Information
The museum was founded on December 28, 1966, and the exposition was opened on November 21, 1978. In 1986, the Museum was awarded the honorary title of "People's Museum" for its services to culture. The museum is located in the main building of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, which was designed by architect V.I. Beretti in 1842. The exhibition hall is located in the former Catholic church of the university and has two levels.
The museum has 7 thematic sections that reflect the history of Kyiv University from 1834 to the present day. Here you can see the memorial offices of world-famous scientists, such as the chemist S.M. Reformist and biologist S.G. Navashin, as well as the reconstruction of a chemical laboratory of the 19th century and the working corner of a methodist from the beginning of the 20th century. The museum's exhibits include government awards and honors of the University, student uniforms and graduate badges of St. Volodymyr Imperial University, anniversary gifts received by the University, personal belongings and publications of faculty members, sports awards of the University's students, and many other items.
