Information
The beginning of the establishment of the Museum of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" (Galshchyn Dim) is associated with the creation of the scientific, informational and cultural complex "Library-Museum-Archive of NaUKMA" in accordance with the order of the President of NaUKMA No. 212 dated May 16, 2006. The goal of this initiative was to preserve and popularize monuments of Ukrainian history and culture related to the history of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy by uniting the book, archival, museum and documentary collections of the University in one historical and architectural space of the 17th-19th centuries Fraternal Monastery: the Old Academic Building - the Antonovich Library - the Cookery - the Refectory with the Holy Spirit Church.
Since November 2006, based on the decision of the Academic Council of NaUKMA, the Museum has been operating under the name of the Center "Museum of Ukrainian Victory" as a research, scientific, informational, and cultural and educational structural unit of the University. Since February 2011, in accordance with the order of the President of NaUKMA No. 35 dated January 27, 2011 "On measures regarding changes in the organization of labor", the Museum has been operating under the name of the Educational Laboratory of Historical Studies as an educational and scientific structural unit of the University.
To the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, in October 2015, the NaUKMA Museum opened its first permanent exhibition. The exhibition is located in two halls in the oldest building in Podil - the Cookery of the 17th-century Brotherhood Monastery (the so-called House of Halshka Gulevichivna), which is one of the most important "exhibits" of the NaUKMA Museum. The structure of the exposition reflects the past of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (17th-19th centuries) and the revival and development of NaUKMA from 1991 to the present day. The exhibition presents archaeological materials, archival documents, tangible exhibits, books, photographs, in particular the original certificate of a graduate of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy from the end of the 18th century, decorative fragments of the Epiphany Cathedral destroyed in 1935, a student slate from the 18th-19th centuries, photo albums of graduates of the Kyiv Theological Academy from 1903-1915, unique lifetime publications of teachers and graduates of the Academy from the 18th-20th centuries, in particular with gift inscriptions and autographs, badges of bachelors of the Kyiv Theological Academy, as well as the first newspaper advertisement about the recruitment of students in 1991, registration journals of the first applicants in 1992, the first entrance tests, the first NaUKMA poster from August 1992, student samizdats and creative works, posters, badges, photographs, booklets, certificates, diplomas, the Petro Mohyla medal, etc. All the exhibits presented were donated and donated by employees, students and graduates of NaUKMA, as well as supporters of the NaUKMA Museum. In addition, 11 portraits of prominent figures of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy of the 17th-19th centuries are exhibited here, specially painted for the exhibition by a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, G. Zorik.
The Museum also houses a representative collection of bricks collected during the reconstruction of buildings and repair work on the territory of NaUKMA, which illustrates the features of construction over more than 300 years on the territory of the modern university. In particular, the recorded marks indicate that bricks from the factories of the largest manufacturers in the Kyiv region were used here - Emilia Subbotina, L. Chernoyarov and many others.
During 2005-2006, as a result of the Orange Revolution artifact collection campaign, participants in the events donated to the university paraphernalia of the Our Ukraine party, banners, artwork, and handicrafts from Independence Square. Now this unique collection is part of the museum's holdings.
