Parkhomivka Historical and Art Museum

Parkhomiv History and Art Museum is one of the most outstanding rural museums of Ukraine, known for its unique collection of art and antiques. This institution functions as an independent department of the Kharkiv Art Museum. The huge main fund of the museum includes about three thousand unique masterpieces of painting, graphics, sculpture, objects of decorative and applied art, archaeological finds and ethnographic materials. Today, the Parkhomiv History and Art Museum is located in a restored palace building in Pidgorychany.

The museum was founded in 1955 thanks to the initiative of a history teacher and connoisseur of ancient culture and art, Panas Fedorovych Lunyov. Later, the institution turned into a center of culture and education. The exposition of the museum is located in sixteen halls and includes sections devoted to icon painting, domestic art of the XVIII-XX centuries, modern domestic art, foreign art, decorative and applied art, archeology and history.
