Exhibition "People's Icon"

A unique exhibition of folk icons of the Chernihiv Region was presented in the Chernihiv Exhibition Hall. In this exhibition, about 60 examples of various currents of Ukrainian folk art were shown, from naive icons to professionally executed works. They are distinguished by decorativeness, purity of color, conciseness and clarity of composition. The icons depict saints and events of the Gospel story in a naive-realistic style. At the exhibition, you could see images of Saints Yuri Zmieborets, Great Martyr Varvara and other patron saints.

Special attention was paid to the icons of the Mother of God. The exhibition presents such well-known icons as Okhtyrska, Pochaivska, Afonska, Neopalima Kupina. Images of roses and peonies add a national flavor to the icons and are a symbolic reflection of Ukrainian nature. The exhibition is an important cultural event that demonstrates the high level of development of folk art of Chernihiv Oblast.
