The museum is the most representative collection of Ukrainian fine arts. This museum has more than 40,000 different exhibits, including works of Ukrainian painting, sculpture and graphics, created from the time of Kievan Rus to our time. At the end of the 19th century, the Ukrainian intelligentsia founded this museum, which became the first publicly accessible museum in Kyiv. The official opening of the National Art Museum of Ukraine took place on December 30, 1904.
The museum houses one of the best collections of icon paintings in Ukraine. The collection of Ukrainian baroque art is unique in its importance. The modern art department also presents many interesting exhibits. The museum's collection is being replenished to this day, and the latest trends in painting of the late 20th and early 21st centuries are reflected in it.
