Poltava Gravimetric Observatory

Information
The Poltava Gravimetric Observatory started its work in 1926 at the initiative of Oleksandr Orlov, who was a famous astronomer and geophysicist. Now this observatory is one of the most important gravimetric points that are connected to the world gravimetric network.
PGO is engaged in conducting scientific research aimed at studying the dynamics of the Earth's crust and the force of gravity, using geodetic and geophysical observations. In addition, the observatory is engaged in geophysical studies that help predict earthquakes, study the Earth's rotational motion and related geodynamic phenomena. Scientists of the observatory also study the sources of cosmic radio radiation. Since 2001, the observatory has regularly carried out GPS observations.
