National Botanical Garden named after M.M. Hryshka of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is included in the nature reserve fund of Ukraine and is an object of comprehensive protection. NBS is one of the leading botanical gardens in Europe in terms of the variety of collections of living plants, the scale of the territory and the level of scientific research. The Botanical Garden includes 8 scientific departments and has a unique collection of about 11,180 taxa of plants.
NBS named after M.M. Hryshka of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine conducts research in various fields of botany, including the introduction and acclimatization of plants, dendrology, conservation of the gene pool of rare plant species, selection and genetics of cultivated plants, biotechnology, and others. The Botanical Garden is engaged in the design and creation of new botanical gardens and parks, the development of the scientific foundations of landscaping and phytodesign, and also conducts research in the field of nature protection and educational activities in the ecology and use of plants.
