The local history museum of the village of Qarabutaq, located in the Aytekebiy district of the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, offers visitors to deepen their knowledge of the history and culture of the region. The exposition of the museum contains unique ethnographic and archaeological finds, household items and other artifacts that demonstrate the life and traditions of the local population.
There used to be a fort here, and in May 1848, the expedition of O.I. Butakov, whose participant was Taras Shevchenko, stopped here. During his stay, Shevchenko created several sketches of ancient Karabutak, which are preserved to this day. There is a monument to Taras Shevchenko in the local park next to the museum.
