Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Bogomolets is a Ukrainian scientist-pathophysiologist and the founder of the Ukrainian school of pathological physiology, endocrinology and gerontology. He was the organizer of Ukrainian science and the founder of the first medical research institutions. The scientist was a full member and president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and an academician and vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
Oleksandr Bogomolets headed the Institute of Experimental Biology and Pathology and the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. He developed a method of influencing connective tissue using an antireticular cytotoxic serum, which became known as a stimulator of connective tissue functions. He authored numerous works on endocrinology, metabolic disorders, immunity and allergies, cancer, aging of the body, and other topics.
