In 2000, a monument to T.G. Shevchenko by sculptor V. Rozhik was opened in the city of Almaty. The monument is located at the corner of T. Shevchenko Street and Dostyk Avenue. The 3.5 m high monument is made of granite quarried in the Zhytomyr region. The opening of the sculptural composition took place on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
