M.S. Grushevskiy Museum

Information
You can visit the home of the outstanding scientist and see the unique collection at the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Memorial Historical Museum in Kyiv. The museum was created in 1992, and the exposition was opened in 2006. The Hrushevsky manor enchants visitors, just as it did a hundred years ago.
During the offensive of the Bolshevik army, the house was shelled and then blown up. Having gathered a unique collection, the museum's scientists recreated this apartment, using only the memorial furniture and household items of the Hrushevskys.
In the memorial exposition, you can see old photos of the Hrushevskyi family. The room of the daughter — a famous ethnographer, folklorist and sociologist — became the emotional dominant of the memorial exhibition. A unique museum reconstruction is a cabinet, created from photographs taken by an unknown photographer in 1929. The photographer was able to record every corner of the prominent historian's apartment, which allowed to reproduce the exposition with the highest accuracy. The library, which was a real treasure of the scientist, contained more than 4.5 thousand books and was the third book collection during his lifetime.
