The stele of Taras Shevchenko in the steppe near Karabutak is a monument to the great Ukrainian poet, which stands in the middle of the wild steppes, 40 km away from the village of Qarabutaq, Aktobe region. In May 1848, O.I. Butakov's expedition, which included Taras Shevchenko, stopped for some time in the Karabutak fort. The white marble stele rises above the boundless steppes and is a symbol of respect for the great poet. This is a place where you can find peace and feel a spiritual connection with the great Kobzar.
