The village of Shevchenkove, once known as Kerelivka, witnessed bitter events and extraordinary changes. The Black Road ran through it, along which the Crimean Tatars took Ukrainians to Kafa for sale, and Kobzar spent his childhood there. Here he grew up in the family of a serf, about which in adulthood he wrote his best poems. Over time, these places became a symbol of the great genius of Ukraine.
Today, at the entrance to the village, you can see a monument to little Taras, who was herding lambs outside the village, which reminds of Shevchenko and his childhood. The monument became a symbol of local history and cultural heritage.
