Museum of Sholem Aleichem

Information
The museum dedicated to the work of the prominent Jewish writer Sholom Aleichem was opened in Kyiv in 2009. This museum is the first state museum dedicated not only to the famous writer, but also to Jewish culture and history on the territory of modern Ukraine. In the museum, you can see photographic materials dedicated to Jewish architecture and the unique art of Jewish stonemasons.
The unusual location of the museum may cause some surprise to visitors, as it is located in the building of the shopping and entertainment complex "Arena City". But this place was chosen with special attention — there used to be a house in which Sholom Aleichem lived from 1896 to the middle of 1903. It was here that he wrote his most famous works: "New Krasylivka", "Menachem-Mendel", some short stories from "Tevye the milkman", "In a small world of small people" and hundreds of other stories.
