The Aktobe Regional Historical Museum is one of the main scientific and cultural centers of the region. It offers rich opportunities for studying the history of the region. The exposition of the museum is a real primary source, which presents the main stages of the history of the region. The museum's funds include more than 95,000 exhibits, among which valuable collections of mineralogy, paleontology, botany, archeology, decorative and applied arts, and numismatics play a significant role. In addition, the museum stores rare books, archival documents and photographs.
The museum is engaged in conducting historical and educational, literary and musical events and developing excursion routes around the city. The museum consists of 5 departments, among which there is the department of the nature of the region, the department of archeology and ethnography, the department of studying the history of the region, the department of funds and the department of mass educational work. Equally important is the role of the museum as a leading center of museum communication in Kazakhstan.
